Starting from April 22, 2025, Max users can purchase an “extra member add-on”, costing $7.99 per month plus taxes, to share the streaming service outside the household.

There are restrictions, though. This extra-member option is not available through the Disney+/Hulu/Max bundle or through third-party providers, such as TV providers, app stores, etc. The extra members also need to be over the age of 18 and be in the same country as the original Max subscription owner.

Max account holders can invite an extra member into their plan, and those add-on members will have their own login account and profile. Once the new member joins as an “add-on,” they can use one device at a time, stream from anywhere Max is available, and access the same features of the account owner’s plan.

There’s not much value if you want to share your Basic with Ads account with an extra member — you’ll save only $2 per month — but the more advanced plans offer bigger savings.

Max made this change almost two years after Netflix started its account-sharing crackdown, which the company credited with record new account creation and profits.
